These Miller & Kriesel Sound Bookshelf-75 speakers sound absolutely fantastic! They use the same tweeter and woofer found in M&K’s high end theater and professional sound system speakers costing thousands more. These actual speakers have been my main speakers in home theater surround, but I upgraded to larger multi speaker M&K’s recently. The upgrades are hardly any better sounding in my living room, but i’ll keep the bigger ones and let these go to someone who will also enjoy them. I have personally tried many medium to high end speakers, and found these to sound the best for details, sound stage, and great bass for their size in my opinion. I paired them with an M&K subwoofer (not included), which combined is ideal. I do recommend a good subwoofer and quality amp/receiver to match with this pair of bookshelf speakers for “killer” sound especially on movies or even classical or rock music. You can hear every detail with these speakers! They were made in Canoga Park USA (right around the Hollywood studios, as M&K mainly built speakers for studios, movie industry and theaters). You can change it from a sealed box design to a vented box design by simply inserting or removing a foam plug mounted into a port on the front baffle of the speaker.When the plug is inserted into the speaker cabinet, the port is closed, making the Bookshelf-75 a sealed box. When the plug is removed from the speaker cabinet, opening the port, the Bookshelf-75 becomes a vented box.The sealed box configuration gives the best transient response, the tightest mid-bass, and the flattest frequency response. We recommend this configuration for systems that include a subwoofer. When using the Bookshelf-75 as a “full-range” speaker (without subwoofer), many listeners prefer more bass output from the Bookshelf-75. For these systems, simply remove the plug and use the Bookshelf-75 as a vented box. This gives increased bass and midbass output for a warmer sound (the port adds a couple of dB additional midbass output in the region around about 80 Hz). As always, we recommend experimenting with both modes to find the one that works best for each application.USES THE SAME TWEETER AS M&K’s TOP SATELLITESUsing the same tweeter as M&K’s top-of-the-line speakers, the Bookshelf-75 is audibly superior to the competition, with exceptional smoothness and clarity of high frequencies, and effortless sound at high output levels. Using the same tweeter as the S-5000THX, S-150THX, S-1C, S-100B, S-125, S-85, and Tripole SS-150THX means the Bookshelf-75 makes an excellent timbre match in systems that also include these models. The matching LCR-75 and Center-75 center channels speakers also use the same tweeter to make for an ideal timbre match. Of course, the Bookshelf-75’s superior power handling and very smooth response make it an excellent front channel speaker. For today’s most advanced home theater Dolby Digital AC-3 the Bookshelf-75’s size makes it ideal for use in all five channels!MAGNETICALLY SHIELDEDAll versions of the Bookshelf-75 are magnetically shielded for use in proximity to television sets.
