Johann Haviland 2 Saucers Red Pink Moss Rose Green 1966-1980’s w/Gold Johann Haviland Exquisite Decorative SET of 2 SAUCERS, PINK/RED ROSES & GREEN Leaves w/GOLD Rims, from Waldershof, Bavaria, Germany, circa 1966-1980’s DESCRIPTION: The beautiful set was produced in a cheerful rose spray pattern (Moss Rose) using a pink, red and green color palette on white with gold trim. In addition to the pink/red wild roses and green leaves the design contains rose buds. The design looks so eye-catching. Each rim is trimmed in gold paint. The saucers are scalloped and embossed with a gold ring around the well. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks or wear on the gold or colors. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The saucers have a diameter of 6 1/8″ and a height of 15/16″. HISTORY/MARKS: John Haviland, the grandson of David Haviland and son of Charles Haviland, started his own company Johann Haviland Company in Bavaria, Waldershof, Germany in 1907 since he could get the kaolin needed to make porcelain. By 1924, his business had failed. An Italian firm (Richard-Ginori) bought the company. In 1937 it was sold to the Rosenthal conglomerate and began producing fine china for export to the United States using the mark “Johann Haviland, Bavaria, Germany”. Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present cites the mark on this set as mark #1237 used in the 1966-1998. The pattern Moss Rose was produced at the Waldershof, Germany factory until the late 1980’s. This was produced 1966-late 1980’s time period.
